Who we are and what we do

Hi, we’re Abiel and Bethany Alberto, and in 2018, we started Lake Lawns here in Buford, Georgia. What began as a simple idea has grown into a thriving landscaping business that allows us to do what we love—create beautiful outdoor spaces while working side by side as husband and wife. We’re proud to serve homeowners in the Lake Lanier area, helping them transform their yards into inviting, functional landscapes that add value to their homes and bring joy for years to come.
Lake Lawns started with a flyer. One day, we received a promotional mailer from a local lawn maintenance shop advertising a lawn care bundle. At the time, our lives were busy—Abiel was working long hours as an aviation mechanic in Atlanta, and Bethany was serving tables at a local restaurant while caring for our 8-month-old daughter. We barely had time together as a family and felt a strong desire to create something of our own—something that would give us the freedom to work for ourselves while building a future for our family.
That flyer was the push we needed. We decided to take a leap of faith and start our own lawn care business. We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but we were determined to make it work.
Our first year in business was a learning experience filled with long days, new challenges, and plenty of trial and error. We had to figure out everything—from managing finances to perfecting our lawn care techniques—but our passion for creating beautiful landscapes kept us moving forward.
Slowly but surely, we built a reputation for quality work and excellent service in the Buford community. Word-of-mouth referrals started coming in, and as our client list grew, so did our confidence.
After two years of dedication and steady growth, we realized there was an opportunity to expand beyond lawn care. We started offering landscape design and installation, diving deep into research about what plants thrive in Georgia’s climate and how we could create sustainable, low-maintenance landscapes for our clients.
By our third year, we had built a loyal base of around 50 monthly lawn maintenance clients, and we began taking on landscaping projects multiple times a week. It was exciting to see the transformation of our clients’ yards and to bring their visions to life.
Now in our seventh year, Lake Lawns focuses primarily on landscaping while continuing to provide lawn maintenance services to our loyal clients. We love what we do and take pride in offering a variety of landscaping services.
Running Lake Lawns together has been an incredible journey. While the challenges of owning a business are real, the reward of seeing our clients’ excitement when they step into their transformed outdoor spaces makes it all worthwhile. More than just landscaping, we’re in the business of building relationships—helping homeowners create outdoor spaces they can enjoy with their families for years to come.
